Here's What Clients REALLY Want.

Question: Are you reading the room? Metaphorically?

I was at Folks Festival a couple months ago. (Yes, another music festival).

I was in the drink line, but got distracted talking to strangers, so wasn't ready when it was my turn.

I blurted: "I'm-sorry-I-don't-even-know-what's-available-and-I-don't-know-what-I-want."

And this guy behind the table said: "Whoa. Stop. Breathe. Just take a minute. It's all good."

And he told me the selections.

And seeing my uncertain face, he chose one for me.

And when I tried to pay him, he waved me away. And he said:

"Man, this is what life is about. F*** the rules. Read the room. What do people need? Do that."

Ahhhh.

Are you reading the room?

(Most walls don't have book pages on them, so never mind the literal, it's a METAPHOR!)

Are you so set on your agenda to SELL or PLAN or DO that you're forgetting to SERVE or LISTEN or BE?

Are you so set on the plan for the picnic with your sunscreen and your gluten-free finger sandwiches and your ever-so-slightly-vinegared deviled eggs, that you're missing what people actually need?

A popsicle? A moment of silence? A push on the swing? A piece of advice?

Are you sticking too closely to the script?

What if you paid attention to what wanted to happen?

To what wanted to be born?

Let's do more of that.

In life. In your business.

And here's how:

--Talk to your current clients (ask them what's working for them and what's not)

--Get curious with your past clients (what did they love, what did they hate?)

--Do a check in on your monthly Webinar (how's the vibe, what's the mood)

--Ask questions in your DM and your profile. Just put them out into the air.

Then weave those answers into your PROFILE, EMAILS, DMS, WEBSITE COPY, ELE PITCH and TEACHINGS.

Because I GUARANTEE, people want more of that. Sometimes whether they know it or not.
