How Rocky Helped me Focus

A few years ago, I introduced the movie Rocky to my 10-year old.

I hadn't seen it in 35 years and I didn't remember much of it. But I knew it had something to do with working hard and winning. And as my daughter started her unstructured, camp-less, COVID, freezies-and-Kraft-cheese-and-macaroni-laden, 70s-like summer, I thought there might be a good lesson on GRIT.

And oh man. I was so right. I loved it more today than I did then. And you wanna know why? Because...

--It was 100 minutes long instead of 180 minutes long.

--There were no side storylines or fancy plot twists.

--It ended when it was supposed to end--the moment of triumph.

It was laser-focused and it never got distracted.

And THAT is how your services should be. That's how your target audience should be. That's how your brand messaging should be. That's how your goals should be. Pick something very specific and STICK to it. Decide and go DEEP with it.

Yes, it's hard. That's why they call it being BRAVE. That's why not everybody does it!

Want more proof? According to Stephen Covey (cheers to my mentor (Chuck Blakeman) there's an 80% chance of success if you're focused on one major initiative, but only 33% if split between two.

And yes I've got another example.

See the girl in the photo? Tell me, darling, if you were shooting a bow and arrow at a target would you EVER, EVER shoot for the third circle out?

Um, no. You go for the center. This is really the same thing.

How can you get more specific in your business? How can you commit? What have you decided to focus on?

I'm in the business of transformation and I can help. Muggles need not apply.

Dare to SHARE this little muffin and start your impact on the world NOW.
